North Dakota Cloud Modification Project District 2 Operations Summary for the Week of August 29, 2011 through August 31, 2011.

2011 DISTRICT II CLOUD SEEDING OPERATIONS SUMMARY. As of August 31, cloud seeding operations have concluded for the District II Operations area of the 2011 North Dakota Cloud Modification Project (NDCMP). For the season there were 302.14 flight hours flown in the district, which included McKenzie, Mountrail, Ward, and Williams counties. Of those hours, 245.85 were flown for hail suppression, 1.75 for rain enhancement, 42.32 for reconnaissance, and 12.22 for aircraft repositioning. Overall, 2011 District II flight hours were well below the five-year average of 408.49 hours. There were 29 operational days out of a possible 92 project days when hail suppression, rain enhancement, and/or reconnaissance flights were flown in the district. Hail suppression operations were flown on 24 of the operational days, rain enhancement on 1 day, and reconnaissance operations on 22 days. Planning meetings for the 2012 NDCMP will be held in January. Seeding operations are scheduled to resume June 1.
