North Dakota Cloud Modification Project District 2 Operations Summary for the Week of August 31, 2009 through September 8, 2009.

2009 DISTRICT II CLOUD SEEDING OPERATIONS SUMMARY. As of September 8, cloud seeding operations have concluded for the District II Operations area of the 2009 North Dakota Cloud Modification Project (NDCMP). For the season there were 345.23 flight hours flown in the district, which included McKenzie, Mountrail, Ward, and Williams counties. Of those hours, 206.70 were flown for hail suppression, 84.62 for rain enhancement, 32.06 for reconnaissance, and 21.85 for aircraft repositioning. Overall, flight hours were below the long-term average due to fewer seeding opportunities. There were 32 operational days out of a possible 100 project days (including an eight day extension) when hail suppression, rain enhancement, and/or reconnaissance flights were flown in the district. Hail suppression operations were flown on 19 of the operational days, rain enhancement on 18 days, and reconnaissance operations on 16 days. Planning meetings for the 2010 NDCMP will be held in January. Seeding operations are scheduled to resume June 1.
